About the H4K
Each year the Amsterdam Rowing Club Nereus organizes a multiple distance rowing regatta “the Heineken Roeivierkamp” (abbreviated “H4K”), sponsored by the Heineken Brewery. The Regatta, which is placed on the official FISA rowing calendar, is the traditional opening of the Dutch rowing season. In 2016 the Heineken will be organized for the 44rd time.
The Heineken Roeivierkamp is held on the river Amstel in Amsterdam, close to the historic centre of the city, in the second or third weekend of March. Each* team rows four distances: 250 meters, 750 meters, 2500 meters and 5000 meters. The general ranking is calculated by converting all times to 250 meter times (the 750 meter time is divided by three, the 2500 meter time by ten and the 5000 meter time by twenty). The sum of these converted times will provide the final score. The regatta schedule is as follows: Saturday: 250 & 2500 meters, Sunday: 750 & 5000 meters.
Participation in the Heineken Roeivierkamp is open to eights and coxed quadruple sculls in the following categories:
- Men, Lightweight Men and Women SA 8+, SB 8+, Freshmen 8+ and Club 8+
- Women SA 4* and Women Lightweight Freshmen 4*
